Cucumber: a question

Very quickly, while everyone is finishing their breakfast (scrambled eggs, run out of bread and milk, so black coffee to accompany) ... lovely lunch (for more than the 120 I was expecting) yesterday, of beef, salmon with samphire, hot new potatoes, salads, then mixed soft fruit, arranged in lovely layers in a glass bowl, with meringues made with the egg whites from the mayo. I'll post a little more about all this in due course (108 for lunch today, then young party in the evening).

In the meantime, Jenny, who made all this delicious food, peeled and deseeded the cucumber, before slicing them. It looks lovely. I never bother. And now I can't decide whether doing all that puts the taste in the compost bin. What do you do?

I sometimes peel - but only because my box grater blades are getting dull. I never seed.
There's one vote ;-)

Wow what fun, cooking for all those numbers!!
Reading is something I think I can do but your question seems to be many or maybe I just need more coffee.
I don't think the flavor is all in the peel or seeds but in the meat of the cucumber (especially as I soak it mostly in vinegar). I tried not to put seeds in my compost when I had one.
I think I need more coffee.

Seeds out at our house. We have a problem digesting those little guys. Never had a compost so can't comment on that. Your party sounds like loads of fun. I'll help Tanna get some more coffee in her!!

I always peel but seldom seed. I seed only when I make cucumber pickle.

Btw, I tag you for favorite food. You can read it, here. Have a nice monday ;)

Very rarely peel and seed...

Never seed, even for pickle. Sometimes run a fork down the outside, feed the ends to the dogs. Min Pins love cucumber.

We peel for a milder cuc, depending on the rest of the meal, but never deseed.

Samphire is in season & just down the road from us - so you have reminded me to nip down to the estuary!

I never peel or seed, maybe I am missing out on something! I like the crunch of the cucumber! So I just use it plain!

Peeled I have done but seeded felt like there was nothing left of the cucumber.

I'm with Jenny--peel and seed to remove bitterness and reveal true cuke flavor

Have never ever seeded or peeled a cucumber in my life. Falls under the category of "Short, life is too" in my dictionary ;-) A friend's mom used to insist that once you made the first cut in a cucumber, you had to rub the 2 cut edges together the stop the cucumber going bitter. Hmmm...
