... well, for the snails, anyway!

    I have completely given up on hostas. But perhaps you need to meet my friend Carrie. She has a zero tolerance approach to snails that scares even me!

  4. I'm almost tempted to try a bit of a hosta just to see what all the fuss is about! I'm afraid I've got a little heavy-handed with the snails and slugs in my garden. Let's just say that it involves beer and isn't very kind...

  5. I know what you mean, Antonia. These are the only hostas I grow, they generally have the protection of something sharp like eggshells, and a ribbon of copper tape round the pot. Slipped up this year, but, so far, not too bad .... and yes, I've done the beer thing too. And the salt. And - well, you know the kind of thing I mean ;)
